Jake Wilkins is a documentary filmmaker who focuses on telling emotional human stories. He's less interested in spectacle than in the small, honest moments that happen once someone trusts the camera, and he's willing to wait as long as it takes to get there.

That approach is at the heart of Sincerely, Sage Jo, his short documentary about Megan and Mitchell Shelton, a Michigan couple who turned the loss of their infant son into a business preserving other families' memorial flowers. The film has resonated with audiences and juries alike, winning a NATAS Michigan Student Production Award, Best Student Short at BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival, and the Jury Award for Best Documentary at the Cans Film Festival, as well as official selections for nearly a dozen film festivals including the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival and the Fresh Coast Film Festival. Jake's previous work “The False Finish of the Spyder”, which followed a professional wrestlers battle with losing his house and kids in a divorce, also recieved awards and selections from across Michigan.

Jake came to filmmaking through sound. Years of work in audio production, sound design, and music shape how his films feel, and his YouTube channel, Mr Goatee, has taught him how to hold an audience's attention, growing to more than 100,000 subscribers.
